Mini-Makeover

Well.... I'm itching to tear up the studio here again... I have large built in tables that we made when we moved into the house here...they line two of the 4 walls in the room.. they are great, but I have decided that I like to stand while painting, and adding my easel to the room, makes the space feel so small... so... I am going to rip out one of the tables, and raise it to counter-height.

I am going to switch the counter tops to oak plywood, and to save money, I will cut the tables to the same size as the existing tables so that I can use the same tempered glass tops I have been using all these years. The natural wood will brighten up the space. I'd love to use reclaimed wood or butcher block...but I think we'll check out oak plywood and go from there. Take a look at these images I ripped off Pinterest for inspiration:

I love that work top...

Oh how I wish that wood was in my budget!

This is most closely what we will build....minus the pipes (again, to save money).. I'll use legs as shown in the top photo.

I feel stagnant if I don't switch things up in here. I spend M-F and a lot of time on the weekends in this room... the mini-makeovers help keep me excited about my space. I wish we lived in a smaller city somewhere...where sprawling properties in old barns were readily available...but in the city of San Diego, real estate is not cheap. I make it work! :)

How about you? Switch it up in your space often?
