Meet my new online workshop...on COLOR!

I am so excited to announce my newest online workshop, “Expanding on Color”! The new workshop is now what I consider to be the best footage and content I have ever recorded. Pull up a chair, I think it is important that you know the back story on this workshop.

Way back in 2008, my mentor and great friend, Chris Cozen (formally of Golden Artist Colors fame), and I got together and decided to produce and film a series of online workshops. The series was intended to be comprised of everything than an artist could possibly need to know about mixed media art with acrylic paint. When we began to hammer out the workshops, we decided that the number one topic in the series should be about paint and color- the foundation of all art.

That initial online workshop about color sold hundreds of copies back in 2009. It was a massive workshop with over 25 lessons. Over time, we listened to the students in that workshop and reviewed their problems and student paintings. Last year, we started to toss the idea around about re-writing the color class.

When writing the new color class, we already had an excellent understanding of online workshop student behaviors and we used that knowledge to write the best content possible. Since we were unable to meet in person this go around, we met over Skype and together we recorded a series of lectures about color. Topics from pigment load, lightfastness and color harmony were discussed in an easy to understand format. The content in our new workshop differs greatly from that 2009 content.

We felt that just giving the information about paint and pigments was not enough. Student Artists needed to see the information in a practical environment, so I filmed myself, unscripted, using the information in the new workshop to make 2 beautiful layered abstracts. In my painting, I use the transparency and opacity properties of my paint to my advantage, always resulting in paint that appears to be vibrating and glowing. The most common compliment that I receive when clients un-box my art is that the colors are “…So much better in person than online!”

To add to the course, I also filmed a series of video shorts, demonstrating how I would correct the three most common student errors that I see across all of my workshops. Super valuable content to anyone looking to make better art.

The class supply list for this workshop is the smallest we have ever had. Students will be able to choose from their favorite combinations of red, blue and yellow artist grade paint to make the color combinations that speak to them the most. Of course, I’ll be around to give helpful suggestions and guide you if you are shopping for supplies- anytime.

The marketplace is saturated (pun intended) with color workshops at the moment. Both Chris and I strongly feel that our color class is the class that you will refer to time and time again. It is the class that will help you improve your art at any level. To learn more and to register, please click here.
