French Fry Painting?

I’m surprised at the number of paintings that I finished during summer this year.. I guess with the limitations due to COVID, I have been home for longer periods than in summers prior.. This is my latest bright, yellow, happy abstract painting that I am calling, “French Fry Buffet” 😋

I honestly cannot remember the last time I tasted a french fry.. I think I recently saw a fast food commercial which has me craving the delicious treat.. Can you imagine a buffet filled only with all types of french fries? Would you include Tator Tots? I probably would.

This painting has loads of luscious layers and semi-transparent paint. I recently received a question about the challenge of covering up layers while a painting progresses.. If you are learning to paint, don’t discount this step! Covering layers with semi-transparent paint creates the luscious depth and richness that I have in many of my paintings. It is a necessary step! In all of my online workshops, we talk about learning the properties of each color of paint and how to make them work for you like they work for me. Rich. Deep Color…light or dark..the richness is always there. With a lot less calories compared to french fries 😜
