It Was Like That

Wrapping up Spring Break here with one new painting.. "It Was Like That" is a 24x24" gallery canvas that I will hang in my current show here in San Diego.

New Art "It Was Like That" 24 x 24

Abstract expressionism is coming much easier to me.. Mark making is a lot easier. Even color choices are coming to me  easier... I can't explain why this is.. Might be that I have exceeded some predetermined level of paintings to "graduate" to these feelings.. Might be that I stopped worrying about the final outcome of each painting so much... Might be that I didn't have time to really think about "trouble" while painting this week...who knows. I'm really happy with my work these days.. I think it shows.

The final phase of this painting brought in glazing, glazing and more glazing. I shifted the entire painting "cool"... and added depth that was missing in a few areas. Once the paint was dry I came in with chalk pastels and charcoal... You can look back on the blog 3 posts to see the daily progression of this painting. Thanks for checking in with me this week.. I'll see you soon!
