You've Got A Friend In Me..

Do you think it's funny that people think they know you based on what you put up online about yourself?  Someone told me I don't fit the "mold" of being an artist once. (Didn't know there was one.)

I buy my clothes at the Gap, don't have tattoos or piercings (I regret that my ears are pierced) and don't really ever do anything crazy.

I am tall. 5'9".

I don't drink, (booze or soda) I don't ask for time away from my daughter, I don't go on girls weekends, and I don't get spa treatments. I am simple.

Small things make me happy. I don't mean things like dew drops on a spider-web in the morning..but I mean ten minutes here and there to take some photographs... 10 minutes to sit here with my laptop..those sort of small indulgences. That's what I mean.

I don't eat at restaurants..maybe about once a month. I don't have debt. I don't have plastic surgery, nor will I ever get it. (No way..not even Botox.) I like the way my hands look now; weathered. I am also really happy with my haircut.

I like all kinds of music. Mostly alternative, French Pop, classic rock, really old country (thanks, Dad!). I am uncomfortable talking about myself, but not uncomfortable talking.

I don't get nervous in groups, but I do not like crowds. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, but I can cut them off when I find out they are not good people.

I have never given an interview, that's not my style. If someone ever approached me with a really cool idea, I would consider it. I don't want to add to noise. I want to contribute something great.

I am competitive. I am nervous. I always make sure that whatever I do, I do it the best. I am hard on myself. I wouldn't have it any other way.

My 40th birthday is on the horizon. Do I want a party? Not really..but I would like the chance to sit with my close friends. The friends who I have known for several years. Just simple times by the pool to catch up. The party is on hold...postponed until my dad is better. We have a really long road ahead of us, but like him, I am strong. Really strong. So I wait here with him in the hospital every day and I wonder what people really know about me.

My daughter's favorite song is "You've Got A Friend In Me"- the Spanish Version.. This got me thinking. Who are my friends? I have to tell you...have an emergency. A life changing emergency. That will show you who your friends are. No question.

So that's it. I don't think I have ever mentioned things like this on my blog. My blogging MO is to post photography and art...since I don't have art at the moment, you get some jibber jabber.

There is all sorts of free time in here these days...maybe next post I will return and clear up some misconceptions about teaching art classes online... a day in the life? What do you think?
