“At Tiffany & Co, Jean Schlumberger created a sassy, whimsical “Bird on Rock”, which is similar to my family’s much larger cockatoo, “Rikki” who wears a bright orange crest atop his head. Rikki is almost 50 years old. One time a smaller, yellow crested bird landed on my mother’s shoulder while out for a walk. The bird soon came to be mine, and hence his size in relation to Rikki, was named, Little Bird. Little bird was always extremely happy and bright in our lives, no matter what was happening in the world outside his cage. In this piece, I captured the angular shapes of the colored feathers on each of the birds. Ive never met a yellow bird that wasn’t happy.”
Acrylic mixed media. Sealed with cold wax medium which has been hand buffed to a beautiful satin finish. This painting is not flat. Texture created by paint and mediums are visible in some areas, so you can see it is not a print! This painting measures 4×4 inches with a 1.5 inch natural wood profile.
