OPEN HOUSE SALE

I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to all of the new subscribers that have stopped by my blog in recent weeks. Well, hello there! Great to meet you :)

(Grab some coffee...this will be a long one.)

Julie Prichard in her home studio, 2018.

I'm Julie Prichard. Back in 2008, I started using rubber stamps to make cards and other crafts. I was obsessed with message boards and loved the idea of meeting like-minded creatives over the internet. I had a stint as a design team leader (justjohanna rubber stamps) and enjoyed helping manage stamp inventory, and the other design team members. But back then, paint was calling my name...

A really old journal page.

I didn't know a THING about paint! I started out slowly...absorbing tutorials, magazines and soaking up page after page with paint in art journals until I knew how to work paint. It took me 147 journal pages until I was happy with what I had made.

A collection of pieces of my art journal pages.

Still a fan of message boards, people started to ask me to teach them what I was doing. Like, a lot of people. By then, I was featured in several Stampington magazines and had a steady group of followers online. I opened my first online class, Layer Love 1.0 to over 400 students worldwide... with one goal- to allow people to be able to learn high quality information at a low price. I was never able to attend art retreats, and thought that it was unfair to charge such a high price for instruction. I still can't afford to travel to art retreats...and I still want to be able to give very high instruction for a low price to as many people as possible!

By this time (2011), I gave birth to my daughter and I met Chris Cozen in a local mixed media workshop. Chris tells me that the minute she met me, she knew she wanted to collaborate with me. We started filming a series of classes (which are still open today!) and making them available to many many creatives all over the world. From that partnership, grew our best-selling book! We wrote Acrylic Solutions in 2013 to great reviews, and it since has been printed in 4 languages! (Dutch, German, Chinese and English- do you have a copy?)

I am so passionate about workshop quality. Almost all of my customers are repeat customers, and that makes me so happy. When I write and film a workshop, I strive to make it affordable, BIG and loaded with good content. My workshops do not expire, and you can access them as many times as you want. I still have students painting in that first workshop, Layer Love 1.0!

Paintings have taken over my house, there have been gallery shows, jurors choice awards, design gigs, consulting jobs and so many other opportunities that I am forever grateful for because of the online community I have built here...and now to meet you? So fulfilling. I am content. :)

I take my iPad pro with me to the tennis court and doodle, paint and correspond. I'd love to hear from you! (Digital art made using the app "Procreate".)

THANK YOU for stopping by today. Thank you for subscribing...and thank you to those of you who will undoubtedly unfollow me because of this post for some strange reason. These days, I spend a lot of time with my now 12 year old daughter. She plays tennis almost every day and I watch her play tennis every day. There is a lot of time in the car and on weekends, we travel to area tennis tournaments. But, because of the magic of technology, I take you all with me, and I love to speak to you about art every, single, day.

(I'd love to hear from you in the comments! I'm sitting for hours on a tennis court usually.....help me. LOL)
