In Mid February....

In mid February I buy flowers because the rose bushes are bare. In Southern California, I get to wait until February to cut them back.. which means I should have blooms in late March or April. I am worried this year because we had a week or so of unusually hot weather, and many of the bushes literally had leaves back on them only a few days after they were pruned. The flowers pictured above are from Trader Joes...and I am sad to say that they did not last long...not nearly as long as their cousins that I purchase at Costco.

I'm the big procrastinator these days. I'm dragging my feet starting new now old art ideas that have been floating around in my head for a long time. Excuse after excuse...mostly fear keeps me from focusing. I need to remember that when I first started "art journaling", I painted 87...EIGHTY SEVEN pages during my "discovery" process. Eighty-seven pages before I could routinely see my style and what I was happy with. It seems daunting now, but if I focus, I am sure that time will go by quickly. I really think I am a seasonal artist.. I am not sure why I am very disciplined in the other areas of my life, but not so much in the art department. So, instead of painting, I have been taking pictures.. which I think will always be my first love.

Hope you're somewhere having fun. See you soon!
