This month's GPP Crusade is to make a portable journaling kit..and to use it. Ha. I'm a pro at this. We listed our house for sale on May 1, 2007. Unfortunately, and I really don't understand this at all, buyers did not appreciate the glamour of my old art studio. Humph. Therefore, in late summer, I was forced to pack everything up and put it into storage.
The house sold after 7 months, and over 100 walk throughs later...it was a mess. Terrible market for a seller. On December 23rd, 2007, we packed everything up and moved into our new abode, the apartment. Much smaller than our house, the apartment of course can not accomodate even half of the supplies that were left out of storage while we were still in the house! On top of the storage space we lost, we also lost all functional working space as well. Thankfully, I had the sense to start an art journal to save my sanity...I could work on projects on the couch, kitchen counter, on what the landlord refers to as a "work area"...right.
My trinkets and treasures are long packed away..I have not seen most of them since May. I am not going to glam up these pictures, because what you see is what you get. There is nothing glamorous about living in these conditions. The house hunt is underway!
Here's where most of the magic happens. Both arms extended, I can touch the walls on either side of me. To make things easier, I carry everything here and there in 2 plastic bins.
Here are the contents of box #1 spread out on the kitchen counter. Let's take a closer look at a few of my favorite supplies:
Most of the collage materials live in the larger plastic box...as well as coloring things that are not paint.
Box number 2...and what I would run out of the apartment with if it caught fire... when I am working on something, it looks like this:
I don't want to travel. I don't want a kit either.. (Sorry Michelle!) I want to spread out and unpack...I want to journal in peace and quiet...in a new art studio with shelves, vintage goodies and flea market finds surrounding me...I want to spread out and work on things other than my journal...I want a huge workbench and space.. Ahhhhh...one day..one day at a time.
Thanks for coming by today! I hope this inspries you to make a kit too...come on over to the Street Team and show us!
